It’s Gold for Goldsborough Hall’s Gardens

Goldsborough’s gardens and grounds were awarded a Gold from Yorkshire in Bloom 2022 as well as a discretionary award for the Best Commercial Newcomer at this year’s award ceremony in Tadcaster.

In an award ceremony at the Riley-Smith Hall in Tadcaster, Goldsborough Hall was among many other gardens, parks, community projects and commercial buildings up for awards.

‘We were delighted to have been awarded a gold at our first attempt,’ said co-owner Clare Oglesby. ‘It is a testament to the commitment and sheer hard work of our gardening team led by the talented head gardener Mark Waller.’

An unexpected bonus was the Discretionary Award for the best commercial newcomer. ‘This was a total, but wonderful, surprise for us,’ continued Clare. ‘We were thrilled that the judges had enjoyed the gardens and grounds so much.’

The judges had commented ‘a first-time entry to Yorkshire in Bloom and what a pleasant entry to visit.’ They were most impressed with the vegetable garden, calling it ‘a must-visit kitchen garden and glasshouse’ calling it a ‘great feature with raised planting beds flanking a water running rill and central fountain culminating in the impressive glasshouse.’

The judges said that Goldsborough was ‘a business that has much to offer its guests to view’ mentioning champion trees, woodland walk, lime tree walk, rose garden and long herbaceous borders.
