At Christmas time, get ready in one of our gorgeous 5* four-poster bedrooms before sweeping down the 17th-century oak staircase decorated with festive garlands and fairy lights. There are Christmas trees twinkling at every turn - even the outside terrace is decorated with reindeers and a Santa sleigh. Once your ceremony is done, have drinks before the roaring log fire in the Library. Follow this with a sumptuous Wedding Breakfast in The Orangery before dancing the night away round the 13-ft Christmas tree in the Drawing Room. A real festive wedding!

Not just December…

A winter wedding, though, doesn’t have to be centred around Christmas. December is hugely popular of course, but the winter months are just as fashionable. Here you can shift away from traditional reds and golds - think burgundy, cream, emerald green, amber yellow or navy blue. Metallic colours like silver add a richness and glamour to wedding decorations and a black/white colour combo can really work well.

Bring the outdoors in

Use pinecones, tree branches and faux fur to make your day have that wintry feel. Flowers can be seasonal too even in these months. Check out hellebores with ferns & green foliage, or with catkins & witch hazel. Multi-coloured anemones look amazing in a posy with berries and paperwhite narcissi. Foliage like eucalyptus can give a bouquet just that hint of frost.

Lighting is key

Use fairy lights and candles to give romantic glow in the darker months. And a hint of a shimmer with mercury glass, metallic charger plates or candelabras with strands of crystals to catch and reflect light. Food and drink changes too in winter - try a warm welcome drink like mulled wine, winter Pimm’s or a spiced apple cocktail. Wedding breakfasts could start with a warm soup, followed by hearty lamb rump and sticky toffee pudding.
