So you are thinking of proposing but haven’t a clue how to pull off the ultimate romantic proposal. Your partner is waiting to hear these words… but the way it’s done could suck all the romance out. According to a recent survey a third of partners felt that the proposal could have been better. Most blamed the location, saying it didn’t have any sentimental value; others said the gesture simply wasn’t romantic enough.
So what to look for? One in three revealed that they were looking for a ‘romantic location’ or a favourite view, something original and more private. The proposal doesn’t need to be live-streamed on social media but those looking to pop the question need to come up with something to make the proposal a little less ‘meh’. After all the story will be told and retold for years to come.
Decide where to propose
Firstly, you need to choose where to propose. The place and atmosphere of the proposal will be remembered forever. You can choose absolutely anywhere, but it would help to choose somewhere meaningful for both of you.
It could be at a candlelight dinner for two or you could choose a private and discreet spot like the gazebo in the grounds of Goldsborough Hall.
How you will propose
Ideally, you will want to produce a ring (though some couples may like to choose it together afterwards), but what else can you add to make this memorable and romantic?
Try the traditional pose. Bend down on one knee and ask the question.
What might accompany this occasion – a quartet playing a tune or a photographer on standby.
Hide the ring. Places to hide a ring include inside flowers, chocolates, or a special gift. Be sure to ask your partner to open the gift at the time, or you might be waiting ages! And make sure wherever you’ve hidden it, that it is safe. Don’t want it pinging off into the bushes.

OR a private meal for 2 in our gazebo (weather permitting) in the grounds of the Hall for that totally secluded romantic dinner, followed by an overnight stay in our Royal suite.
